William Prince
Neil Young may not have wanted any southern men around but he sure was welcoming to the pride of Peguis First Nation, Canadian folk and country singer-songwriter William Prince when Young decided to have Prince open for him for a pair of concerts in Boston back in 2018. Of those unforgettable back-to-back nights, Prince regaled, “If Neil showed me anything, it’s how wonderful it can be to keep going once the whole thing is yours. I’m so thankful it was two nights.”
Over four albums, William Prince has created a body of work that traces a remarkable journey. 2023’s Stand in the Joy, produced by Dave Cobb, has Prince finding himself exactly where he needs to be. The album won the JUNO Award for Contemporary Roots Album of the Year and Prince was also nominated as the Americana Honors & Awards’s “Emerging Act of the Year”, “Folk Alliance International Album of the Year”, and JUNO Award Songwriter of the Year.
Prince’s career trajectory is marked by numerous accolades and milestones, including tours with The War and Treaty, Yola and Katie Pruitt, two Tiny Desk sessions, a debut at The Grand Ole Opry and a Newport Folk Festival debut as the recipient of the “John Prine Songwriter Fellowship”. From national network television appearances, top-tier media coverage and performances at major international festivals, William Prince has become one of the country’s most beloved and celebrated songwriters.

Steven Page
It was the late 1980’s when a promising young musician from Scarborough—presumably in between visits “to the late-night record shop”— dropped into a Harvey’s following a Peter Gabriel concert and found himself in the general vicinity of a classmate he didn’t really like. A mutual affinity for Gabriel quickly dissolved any animosity and a friendship was formed, one that would spawn one of Canada’s greatest bands. 15 million albums sold later and the former foes, Steven Page and Ed Robertson, co-founders of the Barenaked Ladies had amassed one hell of a career that includes multiple JUNO Awards, SOCAN Awards, Genie Awards, Billboard Music Awards, two Grammy Award nominations and an induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2018. Not to mention countless anthems that are synonymous with Canadiana such as “Brian Wilson”, “If I Had a Million Dollars”, “Pinch Me” and so many more.

Sloan
While the early 90’s grunge scene in Seattle set the tone commercially for a new era in music, there was a similarly subversive thing happening on the east coast of Canada led by a quartet of multi-talented musicians who captured the heart of Halifax with their blend of pop smarts, fuzzed-out guitar licks, Dylanesque streams of consciousness, and acute blasts of power pop. Legendary rock band Sloan built their identity on a synergistic collision of skillsets from each multi-talented band member, all of whom contribute to songwriting and vocals. For live performances, they switch instruments accordingly, but most commonly you will see Chris Murphy on bass, Patrick Pentland on lead guitar, Jay Ferguson on rhythm guitar, and Andrew Scott on drums.
