VANCAMP is a bittersweet, happy-cry, nostalgia trip. Singer/songwriter Calvin Bakelaar’s 5-piece outfit blends modern country, rock, folk, and pop into a live show built on the rollercoaster experience that is living your twenties in a small town. One of Peterborough’s best-kept secrets, the act was named Emerging Artist of the Year by the Peterborough Folk Festival, won the Don Skuce Memorial Songwriting Contest, and is an alumnus of the Mariposa Folk Festival. Since 2022, VANCAMP has played theatres, festivals, small-town bars, and living rooms across Ontario and Quebec, including the Bi+ stage at Toronto Pride and the Bay Block Party in North Bay.
