Forever Young (Rod Stewart Tribute)
July 1 @ 8:00 pm
Peterborough Musicfest is proud to present highly-acclaimed Rod Stewart tribute artist Doug Varty on Monday, July 1, at 8 p.m. – one of 16 performances presented this summer as part of the concert series’ 33rd season.
Having shared stages with the likes of Tina Turner, Rush, Bob Seger and Roy Orbison, Varty found his niche paying musical tribute to the British rock-pop singer with well more than 100 million albums sold.
“When my band and I used to play Rod Stewart covers in pubs, people would ask me if I was lip-synching to a track.”
“When I assured them it was really me singing, they insisted that me doing a Rod Stewart tribute show would be a big hit. Though a little reluctant to wear the wig and the shiny suits, I quickly learned to embrace the opportunity to become someone else for awhile.”
Varty’s audiences hear all of Stewarts most popular hits – Maggie May, Hot Legs, Tonight’s The Night and Forever Young come to mind quickly – as well as witness the captivating stage presence that catapulted Stewart to one of the most popular touring rock-pop acts of all time.
“As some of the live music audience gets a little older, they want to go to something they know and understand will be a good night out. They want to go to a sure thing. They may not know who Doug Varty is but they know what they’re going to get when they see me as Rod Stewart. You don’t have to convince them to have a good time.”
